A native of Twinsburg, Ohio, Tyler has dreamed of being a journalist since he was a young boy. Much of his experience has been at TV2, Kent State University’s award-winning, student-run television station.

The bulk of his expertise comes in the world of sports. Tyler is a die-hard Cleveland sports fan, and has served TV2’s sports department in a variety of capacities (including two stints as sports director). He has reported from and filmed several live events, as well as analyzed sports from a studio setting. Tyler has even been honored for his sports reporting, receiving an honorable mention for Best TV Sports Talent (Anchor/Host) from the Broadcast Educators of America in 2016.

Tyler has also produced short and long-form multimedia sports packages, doing all of the filming, writing, and editing himself. His story on the Mogadore high school football team earned an award for Best TV Sports Story (4-year school) from the Press Club of Cleveland.

Tyler is also an accomplished producer, handling those duties for both SportsCorner (TV2’s weekly half-hour sports recap) and PTC Post-Up (which showcases boys high school basketball highlights from the Portage Trail Conference). The SportsCorner he produced from April 4, 2016, was a finalist for College Broadcasters, Inc.’s, Best Sportscast of the Year.

While Tyler’s ultimate passion lies with covering sports, Tyler is also an experienced news anchor and reporter. He has covered several major events both at Kent State and in Portage County, including the controversial resignation of a local police chief and an FBI investigation of a KSU professor.
